BEER

August 26th, 2008 mick Posted in General Stuff | No Comments »

Think of the busiest week you’ve had all year, then imagine every week being like that. That’s what it’s like being Marcus Taylor. Rubbish, huh?

A little bit of light shone on our boy last month when he was flown to Melbourne as a finalist in the Future Talent awards for a campaign he developed to save Fosters Beer from extinction. This is a SERIOUS national competition, and Marcus flew the Primecuts08 flag high. Big big congratulations, buddy. They gave him a lovely award and tons of beer.

Primecuts08 had six students in the top ten of this competition. Which is pretty impressive, don’t you think?

The world’s greatest cake stall will take place on MONDAY 25 AUGUST from 11am, in the TAFE Design Building, 19 Aberdeen St. (Have you tried our cakes? They ARE the world’s best. We were bakers before we were designers. We got tired of the early mornings.)

we ran all this way to bring you cakes

Decksibition Update

August 12th, 2008 mick Posted in General Stuff | No Comments »

Hey all. Our Decksibition a while back pretty much showed the enemy what we are capable of. The high standard of work ensured that the punters couldn’t get their wallets out fast enough. Cha ching, baby. Thanks all for coming down and supporting us. We’re now truly at the business end of our course, and it looks like will be able to end it all in style, with a grad show to end all grad shows. And you, our dear friend, have a VIP invitation.

Love,
TeamPrimecuts

And while your there take a look at his site, which has some nice work and intersting musings.

Our Decksibition opens next Thursday. Jeez. That came round quick. Our killer party has been changed, and is now going to be on THURSDAY, 24th JULY, from 6 - 8pm. Just as well, really, what with Ms Gillard proclaiming that Thursday is the new Friday, etc. You know?

So, amend your diaries! THURSDAY, 24th JULY, from 6 - 8pm!

Our holidays have been great, thanks. Some of us had a birthday, and a girlfriend who treated us to nine courses of degustation. Have you ever done that? It’s culinarily mental, man. There was this one dish that had squid, rabbit liver and snail, all together on one little plate. Can you imagine the commotion? And how about a drop of viognier with your horseradish icecream, monsieur? Bring it. If anything can make us forget that we’re students for a few hours, it’s a degustation.

So what’s the point of all this? Skate decks of course! We’ve all designed a skate deck’s bottom, and they are looking - I say this without a word of bias - hot to trot. They’ll be for sale at our next killah show, imaginatively titled DECKSIBITION, which opens with a party at TAFE’s corner gallery on Thursday the 24th July, 6pm. See you there, friends.

Bookish

June 25th, 2008 mick Posted in Our Work | No Comments »

Typography! We love it. We love big typo projects, semester long beasts that stress us out from week two to seventeen. We were blessed this semester with possibly our most impressive brief to date: make a book. And were we similarly blessed with impressive results? We were.

This is work by Russ Goodman, Barlow Stringer, and Jarrad Burley; photographed by Becky.
